5 Things You Didn’t Know About Angelina Jolie….

Angelina Jolie has been a fixture on the Hollywood scene for decades, and while almost everyone knows about her storied career (in films from Tomb Raider to Maleficent and Eternals), her long history of humanitarian work, and her brood of six now-young adult children who like to shop her closet, there’s still plenty more to learn about the screen icon. Below, find five things you probably (definitely?) didn’t know about Jolie.

1. She had a backup career plan if acting didn’t work out.

As a teenager, Jolie planned to become either a model or a funeral director. “It sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do but in fact I lost my grandfather and was very upset with his funeral,” she told 60 Minutes in 2011, adding, “How somebody pᴀsses and how family deals with this pᴀssing and what death is should be addressed in a different way. If this whole acting thing didn’t work out, that was going to be my path.”

2. She’s a fan of acupuncture.

Jolie told Vanity Fair in 2017 that she had developed a condition called Bell’s palsy, which causes drooping on one side of a person’s face due to nerve damage. She credited acupuncture with helping her to make a full recovery.

3. She encourages her children to explore the world through language.

Jolie and her family focused on language acquisition during quarantine, with Jolie telling the BBC, “All the kids are learning different languages. I asked them what languages they wanted to learn and Shi is learning Khmai, which is a Cambodian language, Pax is focusing on Vietnamese, Mad has taken to German and Russian, Z is speaking French, Vivienne really wanted to learn Arabic, and Knox is learning sign language.”

4. She’s officially a diplomat.

In April of 2012, Jolie earned the тιтle of Special Envoy after years of work as a Goodwill Ambᴀssador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

5. She’s not afraid to get up close and personal with insects.

In 2017, Jolie was filmed frying up the Cambodian delicacies of cricket, scorpion, and tarantula for her children. “Shiloh loves a tarantula, loves a bug,” Jolie revealed on Good Morning America. “They can eat a bag of crickets like a bag of chips.”
