Angelina Jolie officially began her career in 1993 with the sci-fi sequel Cyborg 2 but she was very disappointed by the role in her film so, she didn’t audition for one year. After that, she starred in her first Hollywood movie “Without Evidence” in a supporting role in 1995 and then in “Hackers”. She starred in different kinds of films after that which were not able to be successful but critics praised her performance of Jolie’s in them. Angelina Jolie’s career began to rise when she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in TNT’s George Wallace[1997] and also got a nomination for Emmy Award. Her first breakthrough came when she played the role of supermodel Gia Carangi in HBO’s Gia in 1998. Again two years repeatedly Jolie won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for Emmy Award.

This role of Jolie was possibly the most beautiful train wreck ever filmed. She also won her first Screen Actors Guild Award. She played in several movies like Playing by Heart, Hell’s Kitchen, Pushing Tin, The Bone Collector, etc but some of them flopped at the box office or some of them were critically unsuccessful. Jolie had her first blockbuster movie Gone in 60 seconds in 2000. That movie became her highest-grossing movie $237.2 million internationally at that point.

Although most of Angelina Jolie’s films were praised for her acting but failed to attract a wide audience. But then, in 2001 she did a movie named Lara Croft: Tomb Rider which made her an international superstar. She had to learn an English accent and extensive martial arts training to play the role of archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft. Jolie was praised for her physical performance in the movie but it also collected a lot of negative reviews. The movie earned $274.7 million worldwide and made Angelina Jolie an international action star.
